LICAU Residency is not a conventional residence, but an entry point to an active ecosystem where art is produced, shown and positioned in real time. Here, the artists not only develop work, but are integrated into a living context connected to gallery, market and professional network. Each room is designed as a strategic experience, where value does not lie only in space or time, but in access to a system that drives trajectories.

For 2 to 4 weeks, the artists work in a dynamic environment that favors production in context and dialogue with space, the city and the LICAU ecosystem itself. Each residence culminates in a public activation - exhibition, open studio or curatorial presentation - that materializes the process and connects it directly with real audiences. It's not just about creating, but about activating the work within a circuit.

The program is aimed at artists with a defined visual language and a clear intention of development. We are looking for profiles that understand residency as an opportunity for growth and positioning, not only for production.

Access is curatorial and is carried out through selected calls, direct invitation or collaborations with external agents, always maintaining a criterion focused on quality and projection.

LICAU is a contemporary art platform based in Granada, which operates at the intersection of exhibition, production and market.

More than a traditional gallery, LICAU functions as a living ecosystem where artists, the public and the context coexist.

The residence emerges from this environment, not as an isolated program, but as an extension of an active artistic system.

CURATORIAL FRAMEWORK

The residence is built around artists with a defined visual language and a strong sense of identity.

We are interested in practices that can exist in tension between contexts, from study to the street, from the process to the presentation, from experimentation to the market.

Selection is not based on volume, but on alignment.

LICAU operates within a hybrid environment that combines gallery, residence and public interaction.

The space is embedded in a social ecosystem where artists are constantly exposed to:

RESIDENCE FORMATS

LICAU offers flexible formats depending on the artist and the project:

  1. Curated residence: Based on an invitation, adapted to the artist's practice and the potential result.
  2. Open call residence: Based on the application, with defined structure and economic model.
  3. Production residence: Focused on the development of specific works or projects within the framework of LICAU.

 

Each residence is individually designed, balancing artistic development, visibility and market positioning.

WHO WE INVITE

We work with two main profiles:

  • Guest artists
  • Established or mid-career artists selected through curatorial interest.
  • Open call artists
  • Emerging artists selected through a structured evaluation process.

 

All participants are chosen according to the strength of their work and their alignment with the context of LICAU.

HOW TO APPLY

Access to the LICAU residence is curatorial and selective. We do not operate by volume, but by criteria, ensuring that each artist aligns with the vision and dynamics of the LICAU ecosystem.

There are three main ways to join the program:

  1. Open call
    We launch selected open calls throughout the year. Each call is selected and focused, looking for specific profiles and practices. Artists can apply by sending their portfolio, statement and project proposal.
  2. Direct invitation
    LICAU actively invites artists whose work resonates with our program and strategic direction. These invitations are based on curatorial research and continuous dialogue within the contemporary art network.
  3. Collaborations
    We collaborate with galleries, curators and external agents to co-select artists. These partnerships allow us to expand the scope of the residence while maintaining a solid curatorial framework.

To be considered, artists must provide:

  • Portfolio (recent work)
  • Artist's statement
  • Short proposal or intention for residence
  • CV or relevant background

 

SELECTION PROCESS

All applications are reviewed internally through a curatorial process. We prioritize:
